URBEX -DPX Speaker Series 2- Prof Yuan Chao + Dr Elif Esra Aydin
Event Synopsis
|
Speakers
1 Prof Yuan, associate professor Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore (NUS) 2 Elif Esra Aydin, Postdoctoral Research Fellow Adaptive Design Lab at the Architecture and Sustainable Design pillar Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) This sharing will equip built environment practitioners with knowledge on climate change projections in Singapore. The speakers will also share how data and technology can be leveraged for granular data collection and to conduct environmental analysis which will inform design and planning to enhance climate resilience of the built environment. Built environment practitioners will also learn of a novel urban design approach that simplifies the complexity of urban design environmental analysis and its evaluation. The first speaker, Prof Yuan, associate professor at the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore (NUS) will share insights and potential solutions related to urban heat, such as advocating for a systematic approach to climate-sensitive urban planning via relevant case studies. And the second speaker, Elif Esra Aydin, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Adaptive Design Lab at the Architecture and Sustainable Design pillar, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) will introduce an urban design approach for hybrid environmental modelling, and its potential application for mitigation of urban heat island effect. After their discussions, we will have a panellist discussion for audience members to learn more from and interact with the speakers. |
