Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Points Requirement

Notes:

Members in the following categories are exempted from fulfilling the CPD points requirement:

• Full Members aged 70 and above.
• Full & Affiliate Members based overseas.

SIP CPD Points Reporting Period & Cut-Off Date:

• The reporting period will be from 1 January to 31 December of the year.
• The cut-off date for reporting CPD points is 7 January of the following year.
• Excess CPD Points obtained in a year can be carried over only to the following year.
e.g. for a Full Member under 60 years of age, and if his/her CPD points earned in 2025 is say 22 points, then 15 points can be used for fulfilling the 2025’s SIP CPD Requirement and 7 points can be carried forward for use in fulfilling 2026’s requirement.
• SICP Certified Planners are to comply with the CPD requirements endorsed by the SICP AP and included in the “SICP Handbook for Certified Planners”.

Overseas Postings:

• Overseas members (other than Certified Planners) who are based in locations with more than 3 hours difference from Singapore are only required to fulfil 50% of the SIP CPD requirement of the respective membership category. Refer to SIP Constitutions Clause 12 on Overseas member requirements.
• Certified Planners who are based overseas would still be required to fulfil 100% of the SICP Certified Planners’ CPD requirement, as described in the SICP Certified Planners’ Handbook.

To qualify for CPD exemption, all members based overseas must inform the SIP secretariat of their overseas posting duration and contact details (only overseas postings of more than 9 months will be recognised).
