Joint Webinar + SIP x HKIUD MOU @PDD
| Event Synopsis | A Tale of 2 (Digital) Cities – Lessons from Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis and Singapore’s Punggol Digital District
As Asia accelerates into the digital era, data-driven planning and urban design, innovative ecosystems are reshaping the region’s economic landscape. This joint seminar brings together two flagship projects leading this transformation: Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis and Singapore’s Punggol Digital District (PDD) by Jurong Town Corporation (JTC). Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis represents a strategic vision to build a vibrant second economic engine by positioning the territory as a world-class Innovation and Technology (I&T) hub with a focus on high-quality living, heritage and ecological conservation. Anchored by the San Tin Technopole tech zone and University Town(s) to drive talent and academic-industry synergy, the development leverages deep digital and economic integration with Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The blueprint focuses on creating a hyper-connected, sustainable ecosystem that attracts global tech enterprises, scales up high-value industries, and serves as a primary driver for regional I&T growth. Singapore’s Punggol Digital District serves as a master-planned smart and sustainable business park, recognized for excellence in strategic planning and urban design. PDD integrates high-tech industries, such as AI, cybersecurity, and robotics, with academia by co-locating with the Singapore Institute of Technology. Powered by an advanced Open Digital Platform (ODP) that consolidates real-time city data, the district operates as a vibrant living lab for digital innovation, sustainable energy management, and smart city applications. Join us to learn from how Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis and Singapore’s Punggol Digital District leverage cutting-edge tech platforms, industry-academic collaboration, and intelligent urban design to drive regional competitiveness and define the future of smart, digital technology, people centered, ecology-led cities. There will be a post event tour of PDD after the seminar. Participants who are interested to join, can sign up with SIP on the day itself.
