This webinar will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities about urban regeneration in a modern metropolis like Hong Kong.  The talk will be on URA’s 4Rs strategy—Redevelopment, Rehabilitation, Preservation, and Revitalization, to address urban decay and improve living condition. The sharing will explore approaches to empower people-centric place making that goes beyond the economic livelihood and improved infrastructure resulting in a sense of belonging in the community.

Kampong Bharu, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic traditional Malay settlements, is undergoing significant transformation through its Renewal and Regeneration Plan. The sharing will focus on the project’s planning strategies and strategic outcomes. It will also share Malaysia’s broader urban renewal experience, current policies, recent updates, and implementation approaches that aim to balance cultural heritage preservation with sustainable urban development.
