Event Synopsis

How can heritage contribute to environmental sustainability?

Facing a projected rise of sea level and temperature, it has become critically important for Singapore to explore how considerations for environmental sustainability can be worked into various facets of our daily lives. Though often left out of the conversation, heritage has a part to play in this endeavour.

Join us at Heritage x Sustainable Redevelopment, a 2-day symposium that will explore the intersections between tangible and intangible cultural heritage, environmental sustainability, and urban redevelopment.

Some questions that will be discussed include:

– How can environmental sustainability be incorporated into the promotion and preservation of heritage?

– How have different cities used intangible cultural heritage to effect urban and sustainable regeneration?

– What challenges to sustainable redevelopment does Singapore’s modernist architectural heritage pose?
