Creating Joyful Space

Our decisions in life are usually dominated by what matters most to us.  Architectural design and practice is the same.

We inevitably fight for things that mean something to us and for what we stand for.  At LAUD, our mission is “Creating Joyful Space”

We believe that architecture is not just about creating buildings but shaping environments where people live, work and interact. Architecture must illicit positive motions and make a difference to its inhabitants. Crafting spaces that prioritize health, wellbeing, and emotional resonance can have a profound impact on the individuals who inhabit them and the communities they form.

Rivervale Shores – De-intensifying a dense development

Rivervale Shores stands as HDB’s largest completed development, boasting 2500 apartments. This presentation focuses on the design principles and strategies that have been pivotal in creating a comfortable and sustainable living environment amidst its high-density configuration.

Located along a scenic riverfront park connector, Rivervale Shores capitalizes on its natural setting to cultivate a serene atmosphere for residents. The integration of green spaces and waterfront views not only enhances aesthetics but also promotes a sense of well-being and community cohesion.

In addition to its scale, the development distinguishes itself through thoughtful amenities tailored to meet residents’ daily needs and enhance their quality of life. These include a child-care centre, commercial shops, and a variety of eateries, strategically placed to foster convenience and social interaction within the neighborhood.

The design ethos of Rivervale Shores revolves around the synergy between urban living and natural elements. By harmonizing modern architectural design with the tranquility of the riverfront location, the development aims to offer a balanced lifestyle that prioritizes both comfort and sustainability.

Rivervale Shores – Construction challenges

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, LC&T exhibited exceptional prowess and resilience by obtaining Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) for all 16 residential blocks and the E-deck carpark within a remarkably short 4-month period. This accomplishment, achieved amidst global uncertainties, underscores LC&T’s unwavering commitment and capability in project management. The significant pandemic-induced delay was effectively mitigated through the tireless efforts of the entire project team.

To enhance productivity and constructability, various approaches were implemented. Wilson will share on the productivity measures introduced for this project, as well as the challenges encountered and how they were overcome in the successful delivery of the largest Build-To-Order (BTO) development launched by HDB todate.
