As part of URA’s work as the Urban Planning Center of Excellence, we have brought together an exciting array of talks featuring two leading experts in the field of generative urban design. The first lecture, by Prof Peter Ortner will identify key socio-technical challenges for the optimization of urban design models and shares relevant solutions developed by SUTD’s Adaptive Design Lab including web-interfaces, participatory processes, and scenario exploration methods. Additionally, the second lecture by Dr Jianxiang Huang will advocate for data-driven design, exemplified by the utilization of innovative simulation, optimization, and machine learning tools.The interaction of both speakers at the panel forum will allow attendees to have a more robust understanding of potentials and the tools being developed for urban planning as well as using data to optimize large-scale urban sites with generative urban design models.
