DISTINGUISHED LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS 


CHUA PENG CHYE

Mr Chua Peng Chye and a few like-minded planners founded the Singapore Institute of Planner in 1971 and became its first President.  He was Singapore’s Chief Planner from 1973 to 1976 and co-directed the first Concept Plan – which mapped out most of the new towns, expressways and MRT lines that had been built in Singapore over the years.  He was also an advisor to developing countries as the first Urban Development Specialist in the Asian Development Bank. 


DR LIU THAI KER

For over forty years, Dr Liu Thai Ker has helped shaped the physical and social environment of Singapore, making lasting imprints on long term urban development strategies, new town and public housing development, vibrant and beautiful cityscapes and public spaces in Singapore.  In addition to his long illustrious careers at HDB, and at URA, where he was CEO and Chief Planner from 1989 to 1992, Dr Liu has also planned many cities throughout the world, including nearly forty cities in China.
